About Us

We are best friends and soul mates. We laugh together, cry together; we bring out the best in each other. And we tied the knot on August 29th, 2009. It was the funnest day we’ve ever had.

The Proposal

Melvin was leaving for medical school at the end of the summer so we spent as much time as time would allow with our families, our friends and of course with one another. We spent those last summer months of 2008 thanking God for our blessings and we discussed our intentions and our dreams — all of the above included us together.

By July, we made some attempts to have dinner with my parents but our schedules weren’t lining up. I knew why Melvin wanted to meet with them and I thought it was cute (and knowing my parents, it was also smart, haha). We finally squeezed ourselves into their busy schedules and dinner was set for a Tuesday evening of that week.

The night before the big dinner, I dropped by Melvin’s place to hang out. Before I could even ring the doorbell to his apartment, he opened the door, placed a small box in my hand and said, “I can’t wait any longer. You’re the love of my life. Marry me?”

I was shocked but couldn’t stop smiling. I said yes, of course I’ll marry you, and as he slipped the 2.25-carat diamond on my finger, I couldn’t stop laughing and crying because it was the most ridiculous, most giant, most beautiful diamond ring I had ever seen. It was perfect. Just like our love for each other.

The Wedding

Our wedding ceremony was held on Saturday, August 29th, 2009 at Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, Long Island, NY. It was definitely the funniest, most exciting and wonderful wedding we had ever been to — and we were lucky that it was our own.
